WHAT IS THE TRASHY ART MUSEUM (TAM)?
- The Trashy Art Museum (TAM) is a nonprofit contemporary art organization that uses art, creative reuse, humor, and education to challenge the way we think about waste.
- We believe that before something can be reused, repurposed, or transformed, someone has to see its possibilities.
- That is why our message is simple:
- LOOK AGAIN.
- TAM presents artwork, objects, exhibitions, workshops, and experiences that give discarded materials a second life—and invite people to reconsider what we call “trash.”
- WHAT WE DO
- We create exhibitions and educational experiences that:
- Inspire creative reuse and upcycling.
- Encourage people to rethink consumption and waste.
- Support artists working with reclaimed and overlooked materials.
- Introduce children and adults to transformation through hands-on learning.
- Use art as an accessible entry point into larger conversations about sustainability and the environment.
- A MUSEUM WITHOUT WALLS
- TAM does not depend on a traditional museum building.
- Through exhibitions, partnerships, educational programs, pop-up experiences, and the TRASHFORMER TRUCK, TAM can bring its message directly into the community.
- Wherever TAM goes, the idea remains the same:
- What others overlook, we look at again.
- OUR VISION
- To build a culture in which discarded materials are seen not simply as waste, but as opportunities for creativity, education, and transformation.
- To change the meaning of “trash”—one object, one artwork, and one person at a time.
- FROM TRASH TO TREASURES.
